Egyptian actress Summaya Al Ulfi has taken a two week leave of absence from her acting career to accompany actor Farouq Al Fishawi to Switzerland, where he will undergo back surgery. The actress had requested from the director, Mahmoud Al Bakry, of the TV drama "Zaman Al Ajaib" (Times of Mysteries), which she is playing a leading role in, to postpone the shooting of her scenes until she returns to Egypt.
According to the Egyptian daily, El Akhbar, director, Ahmad Saqr, of the TV drama "Rajul Al Akdar" (Man of Power), which Farouq was supposed to begin the scenes for at the end of the month, will also face a postponement in shooting the scenes until Farouq returns home in a good and healthy condition. Omar Al Fishawi, son of Farouq and Summaya will accompany his parents to stand by the side of his father.
The home of Farouq has witnessed a flood of visitors from friends, family, and work colleagues all coming to check on him and wish him a safe recovery.
Al Ulfi had previously confessed that she had spent the best years of her life with her ex-husband Al Fishawi, and greatly regrets their divorce. The actress added that if she had been wiser and as experienced in life matters in the past as she is today, her marriage might have survived. Sumaya said that she still holds high respect for Farouq and despite their past, they have remained good friends. She noted that if it wasn't for her immaturity in the past she would have enjoyed living a very successful marriage that might have been for life.
On a different note, charges against Al Fishawi for writing checks to a Palestinian businessman without having a balance were dropped. The businessman agreed to a payment of 30 thousand Egyptian pounds as a payment for overdue debts from Farouq in return dropping all charges and saving the actor from a two-year imprisonment.
Earlier last month, Farouq was sentenced to a two-year jail term with a four thousand Egyptian pound bail by a Cairo court. Farouq was sentenced for writing bad checks worth 75 thousand Egyptian pounds to the businessman at the company he was heading.
The businessman had filed a lawsuit against the actor when the checks he and other members of the company, which included a number of actors, were given bounced and it appeared that the actor did not have a balance. The actor did not attend the hearing which ruled against him and denied his right to a retrial. –Albawaba.com
