THIS is ALSO GAZA

The artistic team behind the event want to shed the spotlight on something other than bombs.

As the name suggests, 'THIS IS also GAZA [2],' aims to present an alternative vision of Gaza [3], one nurtured through the eyes of its most compelling contemporary cultural producers.

For about the last half-century, Gaza [4]has been viewed almost exclusively – regionally and internationally–through the camera lens of war, occupation, in-fighting, and humanitarian strife.

Through an innovative cross-disciplinary program, 'THIS IS also GAZA', which was showing 2-4 October in Amman, Jordan [5], challenged the over-determined, over-politicized image, and put a spotlight on Gaza's cultural vitality and relevance in the contemporary Arab world – and beyond.

The event was organised by Alhoush in partnership with Ma3mal 612.
