Preparations are under way for filming three TV series to be jointly produced by the Syrian Corporation of Radio and TV and the Gulf Foundation for TV Production, according to the daily Syria Times.
The first series entitled al Daya (the midwife) was scripted by Fuad Sharbaji to be directed by Bassam Saad. It deals mainly with the social and economic situation that was prevalent in Syria at the beginning of the 20th century. The episodes also highlight the effluence of the social and economic pressures on man.
The series Qabl al Rahil (before departure) scripted by Riyad Naasan Agha and directed by Basel al Khatib, casts light on the social and political events that took place in the country starting from the beginning of the 1960s until the end of the 1970s. It traces the social changes that swept the Syrian society during that period.
The third series Hassiba takes the audience back to the 1940s and the social and political trends that were prevalent during that period.
However, the Syrian Corporation and the Gulf Foundation cooperated earlier in several successful series including, Hijret al Quloub Ela al Quloub (the emigration of hearts to hearts), Abu Kamel, a series that won a number of Arab prizes for giving a vivid and realistic portrayal of the situation that was prevalent in Syria at the end of the Ottoman occupation, the period of the French occupation and the post independence – Albawaba.com
