The Cairo Voice Company for Audiovisuals has allocated a hefty budget of three million pounds for producing the new TV series Dawlet al Fukaha (The State of Comedy) which poet Bakhit al Bayyoumi finished scripting, according to the daily al Sharq al Awsat.
The 20-episode series is considered as the first drama which depicts the history of the Egyptian comedy and its stars. The episodes start by the generation of Naguib al Rihani and Ali al Kassar, followed by the middle-aged generation, such as, Fuad al Muhandes, Adel Imam and Samir Ghanem, ending by the young generation, including Mohammed Hineidi and Alaa Walei Eddin.
The story is a mix of reality and fantasy about a city called Dawlet al Fukaha. Its main income depends on laughing.
Costarring in the series a large number of Egyptian comedy stars, including Ahmed Adam, Said Saleh, Ahmed Bedeir, Ahmed Rizeq, Younes Shalabi, Sanaa Younes and Wahid Seif. Also, Hineidi, Walei Eddin, al Muhandes and Ghanem will participate as guests of honor.
The series is scheduled to be screened next Ramadan – Albawaba.com
