Director Wafiq Wajdi is working on a series of television episodes portraying the modern history of Egypt.
The episodes belong to the third part of a series called Awraq Masriyya (Egyptian Papers). Having wrapped up the shooting of part two of the series, Wajdi is currently reviewing the first 10 episodes of the series’ third part, which scriptwriter Taha Salem is about to finish.
The director and the stars are expected to begin shooting the new episodes by the end of August.
Costarring in the series are Salah Al Saadani, Farida Seif Al Naser, Ezzat Abu Of, Wael Noor, Azza Bahaa, Lebanese actress Jihan Qamari, Ayda Abdel Aziz, Dina Abdulla and Mahmoud Al Jundi.
“The series third part explores Egypt’s modern history from the time of the preparations for the July 23 revolution, rebuilding of the Egyptian Army, the implementation of revolutionary objectives, Egypt’s support for the Arab revolutions, and the 1956 aggression against Egypt,” said Wajdi.
“The series ends with the Israeli aggression against Egypt,” the London-based daily Al Sharq Al Awsat cited the director as saying.
The director added that the fourth part of the documentary series would deal with the era before Sadat took office and the 1967 defeat, in addition to the “correction” coup, the 1973 “victory,” and economy openness - Albawaba.com
