Prominent Egyptian actor Adel Imam announced that he will star in a new film “Hasan Wa Margas” with famous Egyptian actor Omar Al Sharif.
The he film is written by Yousif Ma’ati and is a ‘GoodNews’ production. Filming will begin next month and rumors have already begun circulating Cairo.
During an interview on the popular Egyptian television show “Al Beit Beetak” (This House Is Your Home), Imam said that he recently met with Al Sharif and he readily agreed to star in the film.
During the show Al Sharif called in and said that he regrets not working with Adel Imam and late Egyptian actor Ahmad Zaki in the past. “I missed my chance with Ahmad Zaki, but I am grateful to have the chance to work with Imam,” said Al Sharif, adding this is the best Arab film script he has ever read.Imam said that he is thrilled to work with Al Sharif, describing him as a brilliant star of Egyptian and international films.
Imam will play the role of a priest who is almost assassinated by a religious fundamentalist group. He then goes into hiding, taking the alias ‘Hasan Al Atar.’
Al Sharif plays the role of a religious Muslim involved with a fundamentalist group. He is also almost assassinated and goes into hiding, taking the alias “Margas Abed Al Shaheed.
The two men meet with new identities in Alexandria, Egypt and become close friends. They live as neighbors for many years, until their true identities are revealed.
Imam said that he hopes Muslim and Christian audiences come out with greater love and respect for each other after seeing the film.
