Unique roles usually arouse competition between stars. The latest of these is the role of the late Lebanese writer May Ziadah which Egyptian stars Mervat Amin and Dalal Abdel Aziz are competing for in a series bearing the name of the late writer.
The series explores the life history of Ziadah since her birth in Lebanon in 1886, her immigration to Egypt and death in 1941 after she had become renowned with variety of writings and creativity. This is in addition to the events she witnessed and figures she met which is considered a documentation of an important era in the Egyptian history.
Mervat Amin told the press that she has been dreaming since 20 years to play the role as May Ziadah as she admires her character and biography and that she was the first nominee to take the starring role in the series written by Atef Bishai. She added that shooting of the series will begin as soon as she wraps up shooting her latest TV series Yahia al Adl (long live justice) in which she costars along with Mustafa Fahmi and Ezzat Abu Awf.
Meanwhile, Dalal Abdel Aziz reiterated that she was the heroin of the series produced by the Media Production City and that she has begun gearing up for the character as far as the wardrobes, accessories and hairdressing are concerned.
“I have not heard of the nomination of any other colleague for the role because everybody knows that I have been the heroin of the series since it was scripted,” Abdel Aziz told the London based Arabic daily al Sharq al Awsat.
Conflict over roles continues with the last one being about the role as Umm Kulthoum for which Nabila Ebaid, Elham Shahin, Naglaa Fathi and Sawsan Bader competed before it went to Sabreen -- Albawaba.com
