It has turned into a battle of the personal vs the professional for producers of the Warda biopic as her family fights to stop the drama seeing the light of day. The legendary Algerian singer, who passed away only six months ago , said before her death that she never wanted to see her personal life on screen.
Now her family are trying to honor her wishes after death, coming to blows with the producers of the new drama. Writer of the biopic, Mahmoud Marouf told reporters this week that despite family pleas, he has no intention of stopping production for a little thing like personal wishes. The Algerian Rose's children have threatened to sue in response.
But Warda's living relatives are not the only obstacle that the TV show is facing as, according to the Middle East news portal, Elaph, fights have also broken out over who could portray the legendary songstress . Egyptian singers, Angham and Amal Maher were both in the running and both were close friends with Warda when she was alive. But producers just won't reach a decision and the pair could start a celebrity war over who will get the part.
