Prominent Egyptian actor Yahia Al Fakharani has threatened to stop filming the remaining episodes of his new television drama “Sikat Al Halali” and stop its airing on different Arab satellite channels.
The threat came after the actor was shocked when the Viewing Committee, which was organized by the Egyptian Minister of Information to watch and rate the different Ramadan television drama series and based on their rating decide what will and will not be aired on the Egyptian television channels, rated his drama as average.
The Committee also went as far as requesting the director of the drama to alter and delete some of the scenes. In addition to requesting that no mention of any party whether political, religious, or social be referred to, despite the fact that the story of the drama revolves around the different political parties and the battles that occur during elections.
The drama had also faced problems when the Egyptian Parliament refused to allow the cast of the television drama to film a number of scenes inside the Parliament building.
Director Mohammad Fadel instead requested the producers build a set that resembles the main hall of Parliament to film five scenes.
Yahia revealed that despite the Parliament’s refusal and the delay it has caused, all the scenes will be shot in time to air it during the holy month of Ramadan. It is said that 15 satellite television channels have signed contracts to air the drama.
