Award-winning airline Jazeera Airways, the largest airline serving the Middle East out of Kuwait, today issued its monthly operational performance report for May 2011, which showed that the airline continues to lead in market share on most of the routes it operates for the 23rd month in-a-row.
The company secured a month-on-month lead in market share since July 2009 thanks to its expanding value offering to customers, great schedules, and operating at high on-time performance of 95% during the month, making the airline one of the most punctual airlines in the Middle East.
The monthly report showed that the airline carried 90,530 passengers in May 2011, with 24,356 passengers between Kuwait and the Levant region, 25,706 passengers between Kuwait and Egypt, 36,615 passengers between Kuwait and other Gulf countries, and 3,853 passengers between Kuwait and other destinations.
The today-issued report is based on data from Kuwait’s Directorate General for Civil Aviation (DGCA). The report does not include the Kuwait-Jeddah and Kuwait-Riyadh routes, where the airline has lower seat-allocation restrictions compared to other Kuwaiti airlines.
The report for May 2011 also includes the Kuwait-Cairo route launch on May 18. Jazeera Airways grabbed an 11% market share during its two-week operation in May. The airline now operates 21 flights per week to the Egyptian capital since June 21.
The report also shows that Jazeera Airways captured the largest market share on routes operated between Kuwait and other Egyptian cities, grabbing a 48% market share on the Kuwait-Alexandria route, a 77% market share on the Kuwait-Assiut route, an 93% on the Kuwait-Luxor route, and a 45% market share on the Kuwait-Sohag route.
Jazeera Airways captured the largest market share on majority routes operated between Kuwait and the Levant region with a 36% market share on the Kuwait-Amman route, a 38% market share on the Kuwait-Beirut route, a 49% market share on the Kuwait-Damascus route, and a 100% market share on both the Kuwait-Aleppo and Kuwait-Deir Ezzor routes. Jazeera Airways is the only airline operating between Kuwait and Aleppo, and Kuwait and Deir Ezzor.
The airline was also the largest Kuwaiti operator and the second largest operator to Bahrain during the month of May with a 20% market share, and to Dubai with a 19% market share.
