Egyptian singer Ali Al Hajjar revealed that the Egyptian National television station purposely did not air any of his songs and he was black listed during the regime of ousted Egyptian President Husni Mubarak. Ali said that all singers that were on the black list were banned from airing their songs on the television station.
Ali stated that the reason behind his banning during Mubarak’s era is due to the fact that he was considered as part of the opposition and had friends that were also in opposition to Mubarak’s regime. He added that he had sung songs for Salah Jaheen, who was actively a supporter of the late Egyptian President Jamal Abd Al Nasser.
A few years back, Ali had released the song “Ya Masri” (Egyptian), which was one of the most popular patriotic songs and was used repeatedly during the recent Egyptian revolution that overthrew the regime of Mubarak.
