An Egyptian court has convicted Egyptian actress Reem Al Barudi to one month in jail and rejected the appeal she had filed. Reem had turned off her mobile phone so as not to be reachable and police officials are currently attempting to arrest her.
According to the London based Elaph, the court’s sentence is the second and final one, the first sentence was for two months but Reem had filed an appeal and the sentence was lessened to one month and a fine of 20 thousand Egyptian pounds.
A lawsuit was filed by Egyptian actress Maysarah accusing Reem of insulting by sending demeaning messages to her mobile phone. Maysarah stated that she was in shock at the messages she was receiving from Reem and took the matter to court.
