Sulaf Fawakhirji and her husband boycotted for supporting Bashar Al Asad

Syrian director said Wael
Ramadan revealed that he and his wife, actress Sulaf Fawakhirji, are being
boycotted by Gulf production companies and television stations for their misinterpreted
statements against the Gulf countries during a meeting with Syrian President
Bashar Al Asad. Wael and Sulaf had reiterated during the meeting that Syrian drama must be protected from Gulf people.

The Syrian director had clarified in a statement to the
internet website MBC.net that a Syrian artists at the meeting with the
President had interpreted their statements as wanting to boycott Syrian drama
from the Gulf, and the artist, whose name Wael refused to reveal, caused Wael
and Sulaf harm in order to seem like a national hero at their expense.

Wael strongly denied that he and his wife even implied
boycotting the Gulf, and they had only requested for the protection of Syrian
drama by providing more Syrian television channels, in addition to national
funding for producing different Syrian dramas.
