One person was killed and eight were wounded in a suicide bombing at dawn Sunday against members of the Algerian National Gendarmerie. The blast took place in the Bani Issa town in Tizi Ouzou, 100 km east of Algiers.
Quoted by a local newspaper, a security source was as saying that a suicide bomber rammed a car bomb into the entrance of the headquarters of the Gendarmerie in the town. As a result of the explosion, a guard was killed and eight were wounded.
The source added that the bombing has also led to significant material damages in the headquarters and to three nearby buildings.
