Egypt's presidential election committee on Wednesday set May 23-24 as the dates for the country's first presidential election after the toppling of Hosni Mubarak last year. The election results are expected to be published no later than June 30.
The registration process will start on March 10 and will end on April 8. The official campaign will start on April 30 and will end on May 21.
So far, six candidates have announced their intention to enter the race. Analysts expect now that more politicians, former military officers and other public figures will join the race. In recent weeks, media reports speculated that the former head of Intelligence and Vice President Omar Suleiman would announce his plans t run for the top post.
