According to Algerian news sources, two people died in Algeria during the ongoing protests over rising prices of basic goods. Meanwhile the government held an emergency meeting to examine ways to control the rising prices. The clashes between Algerian youth and security forces started on Wednesday.
The country's Interior Minister confirmed the death of two Algerians and the injury of 400 others, including 300 security agents.
Over recent days the prices of oil, sugar, flour and grains experienced increases of around 30%. The government says these hikes are the result of developments in the global markets.
