Among the focus areas that have put Microsoft in the top spot, the company’s emphasis on diversity in the workplace has been a key driver. Microsoft encourages diversity and inclusion and amongst other things has implemented targeted development strategies for women and Gulf Nationals in its workforce. To provide a flexible working environment, Microsoft encourages its employees to make use of the technology readily available to all so they can be productive from any location including their homes, as well as having formal flexible working policies in place to facilitate alternative approaches to work such as job-share and part-time arrangements.
Camaraderie and a fun working environment, through activities such as cinema fun days, holiday family days, Ramadan gatherings and even ice cream days have also helped raise employee satisfaction at Microsoft.
Microsoft invests heavily in developing great managers through Management Surveys and Mandatory Annual Management Training programs for all people managers. Employees at Microsoft benefit from a systematic career development programme whereby employees plan their career development track with their managers at the start of every fiscal year, with regular reviews every 6 months.
“At Microsoft UAE, employees have truly embraced the company’s vision - to enable people and businesses throughout the world to realize their full potential,” said Abu –Ltaif. “In line with this vision, every employee at Microsoft is empowered to contribute to that vision regardless of where they are located or what department they work in. This shared sense of purpose has also been a key ingredient in helping the company to become the Top Company to Work For in the UAE.”
