Students of the Abu Dhabi University’s (ADU) Military Colleges visited the Khalifa City campus on 20th January. Results of the ‘WATANY’ Competition were announced during their visit and prizes were distributed to the winning candidates.
Dr. Nabil Ibrahim, ADU Chancellor, extended a warm welcome to all attendees: “At ADU, we are constantly striving to do more and to be inspired – a sentiment that we hope to instill in every student that comes through our doors. This is especially true for students of our Military Sciences programs that are given the opportunity to benefit from a host of other programs of their interest, while pursuing core studies at our Joint Command and Staff College (JCSC).”
The Director of Military Programs, Professor Gameel Hussein added: “I am grateful to the college administrative staff and faculty for their immense cooperation and for delivering distinguished teaching and organizing cultural activities for the students of JCSC, and for always encouraging students to strive towards excellence.”
Students and administration of JCSC gathered at ADU auditorium to watch a presentation about ADU as well as a short film on student life and activities at the university. A poetry recitation by the great poet Musbh Ali Alkaby, received much appreciation from the visitors. Winning entries of the WATANY competition received accolades for their superior performance in such activities as drawing, writing, poetry and photography expressing devotion to the UAE.
A prominent part of ADU student culture, entries for the WATANY competition were accepted over the last two months, and winners were announced as follows: Jamal Khalifa Sultan Al Suwaidi was awarded in the drawing category; Khalid Sohail Althahery excelled in writing; Abdullah Sultan Muhammad displayed impeccable photography skills; and Abdel Hadi Ali Salem Al Ahbabi outshone his class with a CGPA of 3.4 in the first semester.
The visiting students each received ADU packages and a tour around ADU’s departments and on-campus facilities.
