The National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD), the Number One Bank in the UAE, will participate in Abu Dhabi Tawdeef Career Fair, in Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) from January 25 to 27 and is platinum sponsor of the event.
NBAD's sponsorship and participation in Tawdeef and several other upcoming career fairs is part of its drive to attract, retain, and continuously develop the skills of UAE nationals.
“NBAD continues to offer motivated and capable UAE nationals great career opportunities in 2011 because of its strong position and ambitions,” says Ehab Anis Hassan, the Group Chief Human Resources Officer at NBAD. “NBAD has developed and continues to fine-tune recruitment and internship programmes that help us find and train the best talents and we participate in a number of events to find and recruit ambitious job-seekers.”
NBAD will also participate in the National Career Exhibition at Expo Centre Sharjah on February 23, 24, and 25; and the National Career Exhibition to be held at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre on March 21, 22, and 23.
“NBAD recruited 393 UAE nationals during 2010, increasing Emiratisation to 39% from 36% a year earlier,” says Suaad Al Shammari, Emiratisation Manager at NBAD. “The Bank plans to continue on the same remarkable track and to increase the portion of UAE nationals in the workforce to 40%. By doing so NBAD would be one of the few banks in the country to meet the Government’s mandate of 40% Emiratisation.”
NBAD’s several distinguished programmes have also made the Bank the nation’s employer of choice. These programmes are further strengthened by the Bank’s state-of-the-art NBAD Academy.
Under the NBAD AFAQ programme, for instance, the Bank hires recent university graduates and allows them to spend their first year of employment learning and training at NBAD Academy about the latest banking technologies and methods. During this time, employees receive full employment benefits. The programme has paved the way for many nationals to move to management position in a short time.
NBAD sponsors enrolled university students by paying a monthly allowance and offers them internship. The nationals in this programme are guaranteed recruitment upon graduation. The National Trainee Development - Al Bedayah – offers nationals to pursue a career path at branches or department while availing to them excellent training at NBAD Academy.
“NBAD is committed to supporting Abu Dhabi Vision 203 and the progress of the UAE nationals; the Bank firmly believes in cultivating the UAE’s human resources, its most valuable asset,” Mr. Hassan says. “NBAD augments the great compensations and benefits packages it offers with training and job development programmes it provides to assure UAE nationals successful careers.”
In recognition of its achievements, NBAD has won a number of awards and recognitions for its Emiratisation programmes and record. Michael H. Tomalin, the Group Chief Executive of NBAD, won the Best Emiratisation CEO award in Banking Sector from Emirates Institute for Banking and Financial studies in 2009. NBAD won the Human Resources Development Award in Banking Sector for 2008 for its successful Emiratisation programmes, the second year in the row NBAD has won this prestigious Award.
