Addressing the strong relation among three main pillars, Mayor of Amman Engineer Omar Maani said that Amman Municipality took into consideration national goals, royal initiatives and governmental programs while preparing its strategic plan for the years ( 2011-2013).
Maani added during the municipality meeting that the international trend is moving toward sustaining development and raising the service level presented to the citizens.
Sami Muqattash the Executive Director of Business Planning presented six strategic pillars focusing on infrastructure, efficient administration and corporate social responsibility.
Furthermore, Muqattash stated the importance of this strategic plan where 400 individuals from the municipality representing the various departments and service sectors contributed in its formation. Revealing these six pillars produced 26 strategic goals, 90 operational goals, and 490 initiatives.
Moreover, he affirmed the importance of correlating between the royal initiatives and the national goals in the plan, concentrating on the municipality's outcomes associated with other sectors.
Forthcoming challenges and opportunities concentrating on the integration within functional goals were the peak priority of the plan.
Muqattash stated that (infrastructure pillar) was connected with 4 strategic goals, 18 operational purposes, 87 initiatives. Efficient management was related with 6 strategic goals, 15 operational purposes and 131 initiatives. Corporate pillar was correlated with 4 strategic goals, 17 operational purposes and 69 initiatives. Services pillar focused on the citizens and was related with 3 strategic goals, 6 operational purposes and 24 initiatives. The pillar of healthy clean environment produced 3 strategic goals, 8 operational purposes and 33 initiatives. Sustainable development pillar was related with 6 strategic goals, 26 operational purposes and 137 initiatives.
Muqattash further added that four strategic goals of the infrastructure pillar aimed at creating effective roads, developing the public transportation and improving gardens and public utilities.
More over, enhancing the proficiency of human resources, applying systems of human resources, providing the legislative legal environment, developing informational technology and enhancing the quality of the services presented to the citizens were the priorities of the efficient management.
The corporate pillar was based on four strategic goals which are, enhancing the public safety, integration and social participation, concentrating on children and less fortunate people besides sustaining the aspects of culture, society and sports.
"Services' pillar is the citizen" was connected with three strategic goals as stated Muqattash, which are improving the quality of public service transportation, building comprehensive services center and improving means of connection with involved people.
Further more, clean healthy environment pillar was connected with three strategic goals which are, expanding the green areas, controlling desertification and creating healthy environment by restraining pollution.
The last pillar "sustainable development" aimed at achieving 6 strategic goals, which are activating partnership and cooperation with private sector institutions, preserving natural heritage, raising the level of financial administration in the public sector, making Amman an attractive center and adopting sustainable ways in using power.
Muqattash presented a brief of the strategic plan to guarantee integration and interdependence within operational and institutional goals in sectors and public institutions where these strategic goals were distributed on four dimensions which are results, institutional expectations, services, operations and resources.
