More than 10,000 people in western districts of Bilbao were deprived of television late Tuesday following an attack on a TV relay station blamed on Basque separatists.
The Basque government said the attackers had poured a flammable liquid into the station's ventilation grill, interrupting transmissions for several hours. It was repaired early Wednesday.
It is the fourth time the station, owned by Euskaltel company, has been attacked.
Meanwhile Basque police arrested a man in Eiber, northern Spain, suspected of being a member of ETA, the outlawed Basque separatist organization, Vasco Press news agency said.
He was taken to police headquarters in Madrid.
According to the Spanish government, Basque separatists have killed nearly 800 people since the start of a bloody campaign for independence in 1968, most of them members of the country's security forces and politicians -- BILBOA (AFP)
