Clashes between police and residents in north Cairo have left four people dead [2], according to the government health ministry.
The clashes broke out on Saturday night in the Shubra al-Kheima district after a man was killed by a stray bullet while police were chasing a suspected drug dealer [3].
At least 12 people were wounded including three policemen.
Police brutality was one of the driving factors behind the movement to overthrow the former President Hosni Mubarak [4].
Videos posted on Youtube [5] on Sunday appeared to show groups of civilians clashing with police on Saturday.
The crowds reportedly tried to break into a police station in the area and blocked traffic.
