Damascus radio said Saturday that U.S. President George Bush, signing on the so-called "Syria Accountability Act" under the "pretext of terrorism," has added a new obstacle in the face of the Syrian – American relations.
In its daily commentary, the radio added that the nullification of dialogue and adoption of the pressures would result in nothing but more tensions instead of searching for common factors to achieve stability.
It clarified that U.S. disregarding of the Israeli occupation, accusing those who resist the occupation with "terrorism" and adopting the double – standard policy will give nothing but more tensions.
It concluded by saying that peace would not be achieved unless it was just and comprehensive based on land – for – peace principle.
Meanwhile, Syria's President Bashar al – Assad received on Saturday the U.S. congressmen delegation, led by the Chief of the US Homeland Security Committee, Senator Christopher Cox .
Talks during the meeting dealt with the relations between Syria and the United States , and the need "for establishing a frank, constructive and reasonable dialogue that tackles realities as they are," SANA reported.
Talks also dealt with "terrorism," its real reasons and ways of combating it. (Albawaba.com)
