Danube Building Materials, the leader in construction, building materials and shop fitting industries, has announced plans to open its second 'Danube BUILDMART' showroom in Bahrain to help consolidate the company's market presence in the country's domestic market. The new showroom, which will be located in Bahrain Mall, follows after the opening of Danube's inaugural showroom in Salmabad in March last year. The planned 6,000 sq. ft. store is aimed at boosting the company's domestic market share and complements projections of strong growth for Bahrain's construction and infrastructure development market in the coming years. The new showroom expected to commence operations by October 2010.
Addressing the need of local customers for a conveniently-located store where they can shop for their home interiors and building materials needs, the new showroom is Danube's first retail facility in Bahrain that is located within a shopping mall, which is a concept the company has been developing in the UAE and across the region. The large number of affluent visitors, who frequent Bahrain Mall, in addition to Saudi residents who visit the shopping centre during the weekends and holidays, offers an opportunity to build a wide consumer base for the new showroom.
"Operating from different locations has logistic advantages that we want to leverage, and given that the Danube BUILDMART offers a totally new concept in Bahrain, we have high expectations for success in this new endeavour," said Rizwan Sajan, Chairman, Danube Building Materials. "This new showroom will act as a display showroom for Danube BUILDMART, offering customers a wide range of products, while guiding them to visit our sprawling 35,000 sq. ft. showroom in Salmabad where they can have greater choices and even hands-on displays of our products."
Danube's regional expansion initiative in Bahrain follows the opening of the first 'Danube BUILDMART' branch in India, which marked the leading company's 22nd global store. In line with its strategy to strengthen its presence in the Middle East through dealer and franchise networks, the company is also planning to widen its presence in Qatar and other parts of Saudi Arabia and Oman, as well as in China, where it currently has one of its major manufacturing plants. Having started as a building materials supplier, Danube has since diversified into a one-stop shop concept called 'Danube BUILDMART' last year with a total of 14 global Danube retail facilities - 9 in the UAE, two in Oman, one each in Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and India, in addition to procurement offices in China and Canada.
"Danube is witnessing steady growth in Bahrain's domestic market as consumers have started to create a demand for high quality sanitary fittings, chandeliers/lighting products, garden equipments and interior design items like wall paper and wall coverings. The growth is also partly due to the relatively lesser impact of the global financial crisis on the domestic economy. As the Bahrain market poses for strong growth in the construction and infrastructure development, we are confident that our new showroom will benefit from this uptrend," concluded Sajan.
