DSF 2009 Creations unveils collections from Mimi Fashion and Nataliya Dolenko
Art and Culture Blend Well in Fashion Extravaganza
Creations, one of DSF 2009’s signature events, showcases fashion collections from leading international designers as well as collections from the most promising up-and-coming designers in the region, and is due to unveil collections from international designer Nataliya Dolenko and local fashion favourite Mimi Fashion.
‘Creations’, under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, was conceived as a showcase for talented amateur fashion designers from the UAE and the region to showcase their work in Dubai alongside international fashion designers from around the world. From 23 - 30 January, fashionistas can come to Observatory, BurJuman at 6.30pm and 7.45pm to admire the latest in Haute Couture and Ready-to-wear fashion creations.
London-based Nataliya Dolenko is set to electrify the runways at the Observatory in Burjuman with the unveiling of her prêt-a-porter collection for next season. A fashion prodigy who once worked for maverick Alexander McQueen in 2007, Nataliya will also unveil her latest knitwear collection.
Following Nataliya will be the haute couture collection of Dubai’s fast-rising fashion house, MIMI Fashion. Since launching Mimi Fashion Designs at the Sharjah Bride Show in 2007, the fashion label has become a favourite with local fashion enthusiasts for its creative and elegant flair. MIMI Fashion hopes to be a well known international brand, and will no doubt conquer the global fashion scene with its sophisticated designs.
Meanwhile, designer Alyashmac mesmerized the audience at last night’s Creations fashion show with her chic interpretation of local women’s style with bold colors, intricate geometric and floral patterns as well as elegant accessories inspired by cultural influences from the East and Native American Influences from the West. One of the most applauded designs was a 2-piece layered ensemble that featured a metallic overcoat and a lavender dress with stylish floral accents.
Next to showcase her work was noted fashion designer Larisa Katz, who captivated the audience with her intriguing art-as-fashion collection, featuring playful colours and fabrics that were so light and airy it looked like the models were floating on stage. Each piece in Larisa’s stunning collection turned the runway into a gallery filled with awe-inspiring fashion masterpieces.
