US President George W. Bush on Wednesday is scheduled to receive Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Maher, who will deliver a message from Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak on the international community and counter-terrorism efforts, according to the Cairo-based Al Ahram daily.
Mubarak’s message explains Egypt’s vision on the mechanisms of countering terrorism and the role of the international community in light of the consultations, contacts and meetings which Mubarak held recently with European and Arab leaders.
Maher will also hold discussions with his counterpart, Colin Powell, and National Security advisor Condoleezza Rice, on countering terrorism and the situation in the Palestinian lands.
The Egyptian ambassador to Washington, Nabil Fahmi, announced that Cairo was keen on confirming to the US its stance against terrorism, saying: “We believe that fighting against terrorism should be carried out wisely and properly.”
