Egypt's Minister of Information Safwat al-Sherif has met Libyan President Moamer Kadhafi to press him to abandon plans to pull out of the Arab League, Egyptian state television reported on Sunday.
The envoy handed Kadhafi a message from Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, in which he highlighted the "need for Libya to stay within the Arab family despite difficulties and problems," the television reported.
When asked about Kadhafi's determination to withdraw Libya from the Cairo-based league, the minister stressed, "Egypt is always concerned to see Libya participate in joint Arab action and remain within its Arab environment," it said.
In the meantime, the Libyan leader gave Sherif a message for Mubarak in which "he set out his views on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the situation in Iraq", adding that it was "necessary to take steps to get the Arab nation out of its crises." (Albawaba.com)
