Egypt's mobile telephone firm, Click, and the CNN media empire launched an English-language information service Monday to allow Egyptians to view news on their mobile phones.
The CNN Mobile service will allow Click subscribers with the Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) for connecting to the Internet to view CNN's website for regional, international, economic, cultural and sports news, the two firms announced.
Click is Egypt's second largest mobile phone company with 450,000 subscribers and is 60-percent owned by British-US mobile phone operator Vodafone-AirTouch.
The launch of the new service comes less than a month after its competitor MobiNil, which has around 700,000 subscribers, launched a mobile telephone banking service with a subsidiary of French bank Societe Generale -- CAIRO (AFP)
