An exiled Yemeni opposition group on Wednesday offered to mend fences with Sanaa and called off its media campaign against the government of President Ali Abdullah Saleh.
"We announce a freeze in our media activities in a well-intentioned initiative," the National Opposition Front said in a statement sent to AFP in the United Arab Emirates.
It called for cooperation with the Sanaa leadership "to achieve stability and security on the local and regional levels".
"We hope this initiative will be met with a positive reaction from the leadership of Yemen, especially from President Ali Abdullah Saleh who his proven his political ability and will to improve the domestic situation," the front said.
The London-based group is made up mainly of secessionist leaders of the former South Yemen who were defeated by Saleh's northern forces in a 1994 civil war - DUBAI (AFP)
