Former Iranian president and Chairman of the State Expediency Council Hojjatoleslam Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani Friday reassured the West that Iran was not seeking to build a nuclear bomb.
Addressing thousands of Friday prayer worshipers, Rafsanjani reiterated that the use of weapons of mass destruction was not part of the Iranian culture. Warning the Western statesmen to discontinue their bullying tactics vis-a-vis Iran, Rafsanjani noted, according to IRNA: "If you continue bullying ou would definitely create numerous problems for yourselves, the regional countries and the entire world."
The announcement came amidst reports on tougher sanctions against Iran for not halting its uranium enrichment. It also came after the UN nuclear watchdog agency concluded in a report Thursday for its 35-nation board that Iran had not suspended its nuclear fuel enrichment as the UN Security Council demanded.
