Islamic extremists killed four people and wounded two in attacks in northwestern Algeria and near the capital Algiers, press reports said Wednesday.
Three watchmen at a construction site were killed Monday in a town near Medea, some 80 kilometers south of Algiers. Two were shot dead and one had his throat slit, the reports said.
Also Monday, an armed civilian guard was killed and two were wounded in an ambush in Moussadek, near Chlef, 200 kilometers west of Algiers.
On Tuesday the press reported that 10 people including two soldiers were killed and 25 were wounded Sunday in clashes in the northeast and northwest.
At least 900 people have been killed, including 200 Islamic extremists, since a six-month amnesty called by the government for the fighters expired on January 13 – ALGIERS (AFP)
