Iranian opposition leader Maryam Rajavi walked free from a French prison on Thursday, her aides said. A Paris court had ordered her release on bail of 80,000 euros($92,350).
The decision ran counter to a recommendation by the public prosecutor this week that Rajavi should remain in police custody as a threat to public order.
Eight of her associates were also due to be set free on bail, completing the release of all 160 Iranian dissidents detained by French police last month. Rajavi was arrested on June 17 in the French crackdown on Iran's largest armed opposition group. The swoop sparked protests among the group's supporters throughout Europe. (Albawaba.com)
