Ahrar, the anti-corruption party, announced today that it will be fielding a candidate to contest every place on the election lists for the Iraqi national elections, scheduled to take place on January 18.
Ayad Jamal Aldin, the leader of Ahrar, says "Ahrar is a party for the people of Iraq, regardless of religious beliefs. Our members come from every sector of Iraq and we are united in standing up to the corrupt and foreign influenced government. It is crucial for the future of Iraq that we now have new politicians who are not tainted by the corruption of the past."
Described by New York Times columnist Tom Friedman as having the courage to tell the truth on Iraq, Jamal Aldin promises to bring real change to Iraq. Ahrar plans to fight corruption, unite Iraq, stand firm against the influence of interfering neighbours and to finally offer jobs, security, electricity, running water and hope for all Iraqis.
