In another attack, a roadside bomb in a market killed one person and wounded eight southeast of the capital. A magnetic sticky bomb killed a government official.
Militants attacked a checkpoint in the town of Baiji, north of Baghdad . A roadside bomb also killed a civilian in the town. Two gunmen and one soldier were killed in the incident. Following these incidents, a curfew was imposed in the area.
Iraq is witnessing its worst sectarian violence since 2008 . More than 740 people have died in September due to sectarian violence. In addition, more than 4,550 Iraqis have been killed this year, according to AFP figures based on security and medical sources.
