Two U.S. Marines were killed in Iraq's western Anbar province, and a soldier died near the northern city of Mosul, the U.S. military said Friday.
Anbar province is home to the cities of Fallujah and Ramadi, where U.S. forces have frequently clashed with insurgents.
The soldier died Thursday while supporting Task Force Olympia operations near Mosul, the military said, according to The AP.
The deaths brought to 1,359 the number of American troops killed in Iraq since the invasion in March 2003.
Meanwhile, armed men killed three officials of a leading Kurdish political party in an ambush in Mosul, it was reported Friday. Unknown attackers opened fire on the officials' car, said Hashim Zibari of the Kurdish Democratic Party. The attack took place Thursday afternoon.
