An Israeli settler traveling in a convoy on the main road leading to his settlement in the Gaza Strip was lightly wounded from a roadside bomb late Tuesday, an Israeli army spokeswoman said.
"A bomb exploded, one Israeli civilian was lightly wounded and the army is searching the area," the spokeswoman said.
A Palestinian police officer in Gaza City told AFP that "unknown gunmen shot at the convoy," adding that "the incident occurred one kilometer" (less than a mile) from the Karni crossing between Israel and the Gaza Strip.
The army closed the road connecting Karni and Netzarim, a Jewish settlement in Strip after the blast.
Israeli soldiers were searching the area for more explosives, the radio reported.
The Israeli army and Palestinian police jointly patrol the area between Karni and Netzarim.
In mid-May, an Israeli soldier was seriously wounded from a shot fired by a Palestinian policeman in this area, an incident that took place during the worst violence in the Palestinian territories since 1996 - GAZA CITY (AFP)
