Jordan’s King Abdullah will travel to Germany and Italy this week for talks with European leaders on ways to revive Mideast peace talks and international efforts to fight terrorism, according to officials speaking Sunday cited by the Jordan Times.
The official Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported Monday that the monarch would also visit Turkey.
King Abdullah was expected to make a brief visit to Rome for talks with President Carlo Azeglio Ciampi and Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi on Friday, one day after talks in Berlin with Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder, said the paper.
It would be the king's first official trip to Europe since last month's terror attacks in the US, and his second visit to Germany this year.
The king is also due to meet with Syrian President Bashar Al Assad, who arrived in Amman on an unscheduled visit to discuss the latest developments in the world and their consequences for the region.
