A Kuwaiti passenger on an Egypt Air flight that was forced to make an emergency stop in Greece during the weekend has been arrested on suspicion of a bomb hoax, police said on Sunday.
The man, 39, was arrested after investigators established that he was the last to use the toilet before a crewmember discovered a written message warning of a bomb onboard the aircraft, police said.
The Airbus A320 en route from Madrid to Cairo made an emergency landing at Athens airport Saturday after the message was discovered. However, after several hours of examining the airplane, Greek airport security agents found no explosive.
According to AFP, the hoax suspect was expected to be brought before a judge Sunday evening and charged with disturbing airport security. (Albawaba.com)
