Kuwait's oil minister, Sheikh Saud al-Sabah, asked the cabinet to be exempted from his post, and refused a new post in the upcoming government which is expected to be declared within few days, sources were quoted as saying by ArabicNews.com.
Sheikh Saud has served as oil minister since 1998.
Sources said that former president of the Kuwaiti Oil Company (KOC), Khaled al-Fleij, is the first candidate to succeed Sheikh Saud.
Currently, al-Fleij works as an advisor to the Kuwaiti foreign minister, Sheikh Sabah al-Sabah, said the news service.
On Wednesday, Kuwait's Emir asked Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Sheikh Saad al-Sabah, to form a new cabinet following the resignation of the current cabinet two weeks ago -- Albawaba.com
