Lebanese citizens wishing to enter Jordan will be granted a tourist visa within 24 hours, according to Jordanian Ambassador Anmar Hmoud.
After meeting with Foreign Ministry Secretary-General Zuheir Hamdan, Hmoud said Lebanese would not suffer delays when applying for visas to Jordan, according to the Daily Star. But he said the policy in effect since last September, allowing Lebanese to receive visas at Jordanian points of entry, would no longer be followed, based on the principle of reciprocity.
“The only reason Lebanese will not be given this privilege is because the Lebanese authorities refuse to grant the same treatment to our citizens,” Hmoud said.
Lebanese authorities have imposed restrictions on providing visas to Jordanians of Palestinian origin.
