Nawras, a Qtel Group company, recently hosted the first Ericsson User Group Asia Pacific (EUGAP) meeting to be held in the Middle East. More than 20 different countries were represented as 120 network professionals assembled in Muscat to discuss best industry practises in order to further benefit customers. During the visit, delegates were also delighted to be able to experience the legendary warm hospitality and fascinating culture of the Sultanate of Oman.
The two-day meeting began with a presentation given by Chief Strategy Officer, Abdulla Issa Al-Rawahy, who described the experience of Nawras in transforming the telecommunications service in Oman. He said, “We began serving customers in 2005 with our pleasingly different mobile services using the reliable technology of the Nawras Ericsson network. This year Nawras became a full service provider, offering fixed services for the business and residential market. We use the latest network equipment together with our people’s expertise to deliver award-winning service to Nawras customers.”
Nawras Chief Executive Officer, Ross Cormack welcomed the delegates at the start of a traditional Omani dinner held at ‘Seblat’ at the Al Bustan Palace hotel. Amidst the date plantation, delegates were impressed by the opportunity to see a number of local handicrafts being skilfully made and enjoyed sampling the Omani cuisine, particularly as many were first time visitors to the Sultanate.
EUGAP delegates discussed best practise and highlighted the priorities to be considered in future network technology development. New features will ensure that Nawras customers’ needs continue to be anticipated and met as they constantly evolve.
