FINE, the market leader in the Middle East's hygienic paper industry and part of the Nuqul Group, has reaffirmed its commitment to increasing productivity, operational efficiency and performance through the adoption of the Self-Managed Work Team (SMWT) concept.
Self-managed work teams are groups of employees tasked with monitoring and reviewing a product or process in a firm and coming up with solutions to problems they encounter. Such teams are a group of people who have a unified commitment to a common purpose through their goals, roles, and decision making boundaries, and are linked to the organisation they serve. Team members are trained to develop the skills necessary to influence their results, thereby becoming business owners.
Through the adoption of the SMWT concept, FINE aims to reduce waste, increase efficiency, lower overhead costs without risk, prepare its plant for higher volumes, and clearly define roles and responsibilities within the organisation.
Commenting on the development, Peter Janho, Chief Area Officer, FINE Hygienic Paper, FZE, said, "Self-managed work teams can be extremely successful and beneficial to an organisation, although to achieve this, these teams have to be nurtured, and provided leadership from top management, which is precisely what we are doing at FINE. We believe that through the adoption of this concept we can further improve operational efficiencies and productivity, while reducing costs, which ultimately will translate into greater customer satisfaction through the availability of a broader range of high quality products."
The FINE stable of products includes facial tissues, toilet paper, baby diapers, wet wipes, refreshing towels, adult briefs, jumbo rolls, kitchen towels and sanitary pads. FINE has a manufacturing unit at the Jebel Ali Free Zone in Dubai that is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and facilities, and employs around 300 highly skilled staff.
