For the first time in its 21-year-old history, the Middle East’s most prestigious golf tournament will have an international brand as a title sponsor. The OMEGA Dubai Desert Classic tees off next week with the prominent support of the famous Swiss watch brand.
“We feel privileged to have Omega as the title sponsors of our events,” said Mohamed Juma Buamaim, Vice-Chairman and CEO of ‘golf in Dubai, the organisers of both the Dubai Desert Classic and the Dubai Ladies Masters. “In these uncertain days Omega’s devotion to the development of sports is certainly a source of confidence for the game of golf in Dubai and the region. And we value their gesture with a promise to deliver events befitting the global image of Dubai and the Omega brand,” he said.
Omega recently signed a deal with Golf in Dubai to be the title sponsor of both tournaments for a five year period.
With golfing superstars like Sergio Garcia and Michelle Wie as brand ambassadors, Omega’s golfing tradition includes sponsorship of some of the world’s most prestigious tournaments including the European Masters in Switzerland’s Crans-Montana, China’s Mission Hills World Cup, The Hong Kong Open, the Indian Open and The Castello Masters in Valencia, Spain.
Apart from the OMEGA Dubai Desert Classic and the OMEGA Dubai Ladies Masters, Omega also supports the promotion of golf at grassroots and amateur levels with its sponsorship of the Dubai Creek and Golf Amateurs Open.
“Our association with golf in Dubai started more than five years ago when we sponsored our first tournament taking place at the Creek Golf Course,” said Nayla Hayek, a member of the Swatch Group Board of Directors.

OMEGA is hosting its VIP clients in its dedicated hospitality area at the Emirates Golf Club where it will also have an OMEGA watch boutique shop to showcase its Seamaster Aqua Terra Collection. The winner of the tournament will receive the lavish Seamaster Aqua Terra Co-Axial Chronometer timepiece along with the event’s Arabian coffee-pot shaped trophy against the picturesque backdrop of the lake guarding the 18th hole.
