A large portion of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) openly rejected the recent restarting of the peace negotiations between Palestinian and Israeli officials , criticizing the US for Israeli-bias and the failures of past talks.
The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), which is a sub-group of the PLO, argued that the decision to resume talks was made by Mahmoud Abbas, and failed to represent or have the support of the PLO as a whole.
The PFLP organized a protest on Saturday, July 27 in Ramallah to show their disapproval of the negotiations, which commenced on Monday in Washington. Hundreds of protesters gathered in Ramallah’s Main Square and marched toward the PLO headquarters in Muqata. There were clashes between protesters and PA police officers leading to injuries and arrests.
