The crown prince of Qatar, Prince Jassem bin Hamad al-Thani, has offered to visit Bahrain to try to resolve the crisis over land dispute between the two countries, reported BBC.online Tuesday.
The Bahrain Tribune also reported Tuesday that the Bahraini Crown Prince Shaikh Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, received Monday the Qatari Ambassador to Bahrain, Shaikh Abdullah bin Thamer Al Thani, at the request of the Ambassador, to convey a verbal message from the Crown Prince of Qatar.
In the message, “the Qatari Crown Prince expressed his desire to visit Bahrain, in order to complete the agenda of the Joint High Committee, which held its second meeting in Doha in April, during which no decision was reached on the matter related to the border dispute, which was the most important issue on the agenda of the Manama Declaration,” said the daily.
The offer follows Bahrain's announcement last week that it was suspending talks on the issue until the International Court of Justice in The Hague had ruled on the matter.
Bahrain accused Qatar of failing to respond to its proposals, and said it regretted Qatar's unilateral decision in 1991 to take the case to The Hague.
