A prominent Arab columnist quoted Palestinian President Yasser Arafat Saturday as saying he might leave the Palestinian territories for either Egypt or Tunisia if no agreement is reached with Israel soon, said the Jerusalem Post.
Writing in the Al Hayat newspaper, Jihad Khazen said Arafat told him that "if pressure continues on him, he will heed the advice of his assistants and move to either Cairo or Tunis and leave Barak to solve his problems with the Palestinians, like Hizbollah."
The interview came as Arafat flew to Egypt Saturday from Tunisia, where he blamed Prime Minister Ehud Barak for a lack of progress in the peace negotiations.
