Two of the children wounded in Wednesday's deadly bomb blast in a park in a town in western Saudi Arabia have died, bringing the death toll to three, a newspaper reported Friday.
"Two children among the five seriously wounded (in the blast) died on Thursday from their injuries," Okaz quoted Jeddah police chief Saleh bin Ibrahim al-Aliyan as saying.
Aliyan said the explosion was caused by a bomb that had somehow been obtained by the child who was killed instantly in the blast, adding the explosion was "accidental and not criminal".
"The investigation is ongoing to determine how the child managed to get hold of the bomb," he said.
The bomb, hidden in a garbage bin in a working class district of Bahra, went off Wednesday as a group of children were playing in the park.
Sources in Jeddah said the park was situated close to a Saudi National Guard base and many soldiers lived in the surrounding houses - JEDDAH, Saudi Arabia (AFP)
