A senior Pakistani police officer was shot dead along with his driver here Saturday, police said.
Earlier the police had put the number of victims in the shooting at four.
Two motorcyclists opened fire on the car of Tariq Kambooh, a deputy superintendent of police, on a busy road in Lahore, capital of Punjab province, they said.
The officer and his driver both died instantly as unidentified assailants unleashed a hail of bullets before fleeing on their motorbike, deputy inspector general of police, Javed Noor, said.
"It appears to be a sectarian attack as the deceased official had been in the forefront of a campaign against outfits involved in sectarian violence in the province," Noor said.
