We're always on the lookout for true world-class artists that are set to dazzle our guests and the residents in Doha. Stella is the perfect embodiment of what W believes to be a symbiotic combination of entertainment and real astonishing talent. W Hotels created a revolutionary approach to the hotel industry by redefining luxury and the meaning of hotels - from an operational, process-driven hotel to a leading-edge lifestyle brand, leading to its recognition as the category buster; and in Doha, we are fully driven to implement this mission and turn our guests' visits into memorable experiences."
Blessed with incredible beauty, tremendous glamour, overwhelming charm and what is arguably the most magnificent voice, Stella was born in Johannesburg, South Africa during the Apartheid era. She was named Stella Josephine after the Morning Star and American artist, Josephine Baker.
Stella moved to London where she worked as a secretary for a travel agency on Bond Street. She won a talent contest at a local pub following which she signed an agreement with George Cooper Agency which shot her straight to stardom adopting the name STELLA STARR.
She amazed seasoned global crowds from the UK to the Far East, Spain, Portugal, Belgium, Australia, Philippines, Egypt, Nigeria, Tanzania, Rhodesia, Russia, Bulgaria, and the Caribbean and everywhere where dynamic quality singing is applauded.
She returned to South Africa to co-star with soul singer Percy Sledge marking a triumphant return home.
Stella won numerous world-wide acclaims from various highly recognized critics of the music scene. Peter Jones, of international music magazine Billboard said: "Stella Starr is a superbly skilled practitioner of the art of selling a popular song. No glib clichés in phrasing Iyrics, no stereotyped movements to stress a point. She lives out a song with every fiber of her being. It's a complete performance. She qualifies to be up there with the very best in the business."
A humanitarian at heart, Stella is a devout supporter of charity work and runs philanthropic shows in Johannesburg.
Stella is currently based in Monte Carlo.
