The first day of voting in Sudanese presidential and parliamentary elections has been postponed from Monday to Wednesday, election officials said Sunday.
The two-day postponement was necessary due to a decision by the General Election Commission "to extend the electoral campaign for two days, to close on Tuesday," GEC member Chagai Matet told AFP.
The elections will now run from December 13 to 22 instead of December 11-20.
The campaign was prolonged because the period for nominations of candidates to the presidency was extended, the official said.
